Establishing a boundary is the first step toward transcending it. As a visitor steps out of the elevator, a painting on a warm wood wall welcomes one. Following the grain of the wood, one recognizes another piece of art through a subtle gap—a continuation of the same nuance. The visitor enters the office, where the sequential experience extends, and walks through a hallway towards the reception. After a brief pause at the reception, the visitor may wander toward the sunlight in the meeting room, then take a brief rest on a sofa, appreciating the paintings on the wall behind the reception. This journey across the borders of vision and program is the macro-level of transcendence.

At a finer level, the marble, wood, copper, and carpet define the borders of program, function, and occupiable area. Transcending these borders completes the space. This is the micro-level of transcendence. Through the layers of transitions from the intangible to the visible, the design conveys the sole unified concept.

넘어서기 위해서는 경계를 설정해야 합니다. 엘리베이터에서 내려 사무실로 다가서면, 나뭇결의 벽면에 걸린 그림이 방문객을 맞아줍니다. 고개를 살짝 돌리면 나뭇결은 내부로 이어지고, 벽에 걸린 그림은 틈 사이 저 너머로 보이는 그림과 같은 시리즈임을 인지합니다. 방문객은 경험이 시퀀스로 연장되는 내부로 진입하고, 복도를 통해 자연스럽게 리셉션 데스크로 다가서게 됩니다. 접수를 마치고 뒤로 돌아서며 시선은 햇빛이 가득 비치는 회의실로 잠시 향하고, 라운지 소파에 앉아 정면에 걸린 그림을 감상합니다. 방문객은 프로그램의 경계와 맞물린 시각적 경계(혹은 테두리)를 순차적으로 넘어서고, 이것이 공간의 거시적인 넘어섬입니다.

바닥과 일부 벽면의 대리석 무늬, 벽면의 나뭇결, 가구에 적용된 코퍼, 일부 바닥의 카펫. 공간에 쓰인 재료들은 프로그램의 경계와 기능의 경계, 사람이 움직이는 영역과 그렇지 않은 영역의 경계를 각각 형성하고, 그 경계들을 순차적으로 넘어서며 공간이 완성됩니다. 이것은 공간의 미시적인 넘어섬입니다. 공간의 무형적 개념과 가시적 실체를 바탕으로 한 여러 겹의 전이의 과정은 결국 하나의 컨셉으로 귀결됩니다.
